This is a follow up to Elizabeth Gaskell's Book: North and South, This is a story about a cotton mill owner, John Thornton and a minister's daughter, Margaret Hale. They live during a time of great poverty and rising cotton mill factories in Europe. During the 1860's, they live in a town called Milton, Where running a cotton mill takes strength of character, compassion, and caring for those around you who are living lesser valued lives. Will the two of them find the strength to survive?
